Disability Advocacy in Sports

Volunteering for children with disabilities in sports has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. Volunteering for organizations like the Westford Heroes Charity Baseball League. Participating in events like Penn State's All-Sport Trick-or-Treat and running it, for all students to be included and reaching a demographic on campus life that may not know about our events.

These experiences have taught me the importance of inclusion, patience, and flexibility. These experiences have enabled me to gain effective communication and leadership skills, along with more empathy. Whether it was guiding a child around the bases or helping them feel confident in a costume parade, I’ve learned that small moments can make a big impact. These opportunities have inspired me to continue this work in the future—coaching youth sports in inclusive settings where every child, regardless of ability, feels welcome and empowered. I strive to offer environments where play and learning are best friends, and where each child can grow in confidence, make friends, and achieve their potential through play.
